Overview

Pocatello, ID | Highland Golf Course and Riverside Golf Course, these two 18-hole courses make up the City of Pocatello's golf courses. Both facilities are managed for the City by ForeGolf (Greg Allbright, GM) since 2000. The facilities are public courses with season passholders.

Position Overview | The Head Professional position leads our golf services team at both of these facilities and reports to the General Manager. The facilities are city owned public course with some annual pass holders.  The main responsibilities will be to manage the Golf Shop, buying / merchandising, tournaments and working behind the counter.  Lesson income available if desired.

Experience Required

Beneficial Experience (if knowledgeable in):

  • Expertise running tournaments utilizing Golf Genius
  • Prior Head Professional experience strongly preferred
  • Experience managing hourly staff, including recruiting, onboarding, training and coaching
  • Experience managing an expense budget a plus
  • Bacherlor's degree or vocational experience preferred
  • Principles of tee sheet management
  • Experience using Szen point of sale software a plus

Essential Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility for organizing and running approximately 10 amateur tournaments per season
  • Buying / merchandising the Golf Shop
  • Managing / Controlling Inventory
  • Leading a golf operations team, focused on providing great Customer Service
  • Managing tee sheets, maximizing revenue and utilization of the facility
  • Driving customer engagement based on effective programming, efficient scheduling and thorough planning
  • Enforcing course rules with professionalism, modeling it for the entire staff

Seasonal Operational DetailsCourses open a minimum of 8 months, March 1 to October 31. However, it is our practice to stretch the season, as weather permits, into February and November. In 21 years we have been open in mid-February maybe 4-5 times. 

This position will report February 1. 2024.

Expected to have December and January completely off each season

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; $7,000 to $8,000 per month February 1 to November 30. Total compensation potential up to $9,000/month
  • Lesson income from group clinics and private instruction Lessons:
    • 100% of personal lesson revenue earned
    • Junior program: Split based on number of employees who participate
  • Other incentives:
    • Christmas bonus: Discretionary, based on Company performance and your performance. Payments over the past 5 years for this position have averaged $2410, but have been as high as $4000 in the past.
    • Merchandise sales: Incentive for individual sale of hard goods to equal 35% of gross margin (sales price – cost of goods sold) You will have discretion to mark sales price down to a minimum of 10% gross margin. Cash sales only. Does not include balls or gloves or other items less than $25 MSRP.
  • Simple IRA plan: Fore Golf will match your contributions of up to 3% of your salary into our Simple IRA program. Funds are managed by Fidelity.
  • Accrued vacation/PTO accrued at a day per month
  • PGA dues paid when in "good standing"
  • Eligibility for PGA Retirement Plus percentage
  • Employee pricing - merchandise & food based on ForeGolf policies
  • Partner / child(ren) playing privileges based on ForeGolf policies

Owned by City, leased by FORE Golf, inc. Main responsibilities include managing the pro shops buying/merchandising, tournaments, working behind the counter, training employees. FORE Golf has been in business for 22 years as the concesionaire over the entire operation of both courses including grounds, F&B and golf shop.
