Ben Geren Golf Course was established in 1972. The golf course pursues excellence in growing the game of golf in Sebastian County and the greater Arkansas River Valley area. Ben Geren Golf Course consists of 27-holes, the Willow, Magnolia and Silo nines, and the shorter nine hole Community Complex, which is home to the Ben Geren Youth Golf Academy. Jeff Brauer designed the Silo nine, Jim Holmes designed the Willow and Magnolia nines and the Community Complex was designed by Day-Blalock. The courses feature MiniVerde Ultradwarf bermudagrass greens and bermudagrass Fairways. The course has 35,000 rounds annually.
The City of Fort Smith and surrounding areas offer some of the best outdoor activities in the state of Arkansas. Those activities range from mountain biking, fishing and hunting to hiking in the National Forest & State Parks. Fort Smith has a strong economy full of stable employers from manufacturing, educational, and professional. The United States Marshals Museum is the newest attraction opening in Fort Smith and Fort Smith just announced a major pilot training program slated to open this year with an estimated annual economic impact of over $800 million.
Ben Geren Golf Course is part of the Sebastian County Parks System. The parks system includes five parks with over 2,000 total acres.
