Golf Merchandiser/Inventory Control Coordinator/Buyer

Compensation: $15.00 - $20.00 Per Hour

Total Anticipated Compensation Up To: $50,000.00

Overview

Oversee the ordering, placing items into inventory of the 7 RCSCW golf courses and the merchandising of the Grandview GC.  Having a background in golf is important but not required if the applicants experience is strong in other areas.

Experience Required

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, college degree in marketing highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years directly related experience in areas of merchandising, inventory and customer service.
  • Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf and golf merchandising  operations.
  • Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing creating, communicating, and conveying business information, and procedural manuals to employees, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Remain up to date on customer relations management and player development initiatives.
  • Attending conferences, workshops, meetings, and trade shows to keep abreast of current trends in the industry.
  • Must have solid working knowledge with Microsoft Office suite with an emphasis in Excel, Word, Outlook. Systems experience TotalE highly preferred.
  • Experienced systems applications user, Point of Sale (POS), electronic tee sheets and Inventory and  Purchasing software

Essential Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job’s overall responsibilities.)

  • Responsible for the golf merchandising and buying for operations in 7 golf shops to achieve its established mission within Golf Operations Department
  • Curates a diverse and desirable array of golf equipment, apparel, and accessories in line with customer demands.
  • Manages a collaborative partnership with vendors ensuring top performance metrics including negotiating contracts to maximize profitability and achieve financial objectives.
  • Markets merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion, and display plans; analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios.
  • Analyzes sales and studies trends to determine additional needed sales promotions, markdowns, and clearance sales.
  • Develops general and seasonal merchandise plans, pricing strategies and visual presentation guidelines and appropriately anticipating level of traffic through golf shop.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities by challenging existing processes to eliminate inefficient/ineffective procedures. Collaborate with co-workers across departments to improve processes. Prior to implementation of any changes, all affected personnel are included in the change process.
  • Establishes pricing structures for all inventory and special-order items in consideration of competitive prices and generally accepted profit margins. Keeps abreast of industry and competition pricing structures to set prices for maximizing sales potential.
  • Purchases supplies, fixtures, and staff uniforms to provide conducive sales environment and promote sales.
  • Maximizes financial performance by developing open-to-buy plans within budgetary and cash flow guidelines.
  • Maintains an attractive and orderly appearance in and around the golf shop.
  • Maintains current and historical product documentation from every angle including purchase to sale, purchase orders, receiving records, invoice validation/payment, timely/regular physical inventory counts and  special orders
  • Assists in the development of processes, workflows and guidelines utilizing POS to safeguard inventories, cash, inventories to reduce theft, pilferage, and manage product returns, markdowns, and identification of defective and damaged goods
  • Updates and ensures customer database tracks important dates, spending, sizes, preferences.
  • Train and track compliance of staff regarding sales, inventory, recordkeeping policies and procedures, effective sales strategies, product knowledge, sales techniques.
  • Develops short- and long-range sales marketing plans supporting departmental goals, directions, and priorities
  • Attends approved merchandise buying shows and conferences within the limits of the budget.
  • Works with other department heads on approved staff uniforms; including pricing, buying and distribution to employees.
  • Establishes and/or ensures employee purchase policies are adhered to including accurate accounting of employee purchases.
  • Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains consistent record of acceptable attendance and punctuality according to policy guidelines.
  • Work is performed on site.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES There are no supervisor responsibilities.
