
Beaver Brook Golf & Country Club is a well-established, private country club located in the Fountain City area of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Designed in 1956 by Lon Mills and Dick Reedy, Beaver Brook's golf course is as challenging to the golfer's skill as it is beautiful to the eye. Scenic mountain views and lush green rolling hills make for a rewarding round of golf.
Available for golf outings of all sizes, Beaver Brook's facilities are second to none in hosting corporate, charity, or private events. Beaver Brook offers a large, convenient practice green, driving range, and a well-stocked Pro Shop.
Head Golf Professional
Beaver Brook Golf & Country Club is looking for a Head Professional to join our management team. The Head Professional will have the responsibility for the overall management of the total golf operation while working cooperatively with all department leaders.
Position Reports to: James Hawkins, PGA Head Professional Emeritus
Experience Required
- Minimum of two years in the golf industry/Private Club a preferred
- Must be proficient in GolfGenius, Tournament coordination and directing
- PGA Membership or currently enrolled as an associate in the PGA of America
- Excellent Communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to adapt to organizational and environmental changes
- Must have a positive attitude and the ability to work with variety of people in cooperation with coworkers efficiently and effectively
- College Degree Preferred
- Basic Knowledge of daily golf course operation, Rules of Golf, Handicapping, course rating system, Teaching, and knowledge of the game of golf
Golf Operation Management
Oversee the reservation system, starting, monitoring, and pace of play
- Track and verify all players and guest, green fees, golf carts, handicap fees, and other charges necessary while helping facilitate accurate accounting and recordkeeping for golf operation
- Oversees golf cart fleet while ensuring proper maintenance and recordkeeping
- Develop and manage the tournament programs, group outings, and leagues that will service the full memberships and guest
- Oversee the operation of the practice facility
- Provide professional club repair and fitting services for members of Beaver Brook
- Administer the Rules of Golf and educate staff. Promote and provide rules clinics to the membership
- Develop, maintain, update customer database
- Develop and promote the growth of junior golf, Junior clinics, PGA junior league, Junior tournaments
- Play golf with a variety of members and guest as time permits
- Proficient in personnel and time management skills
Golf Administration
- Recruit, hire, train and supervise all golf department staff and maintain accurate payroll records
- Ensure annual evaluations and reviews are completed and recorded for all applicable staff
- Attend staff meetings scheduled by management and schedule meetings with golf operations personnel
- Update and maintain golf shop policies and procedures and job descriptions and ensure they are adhered to and posted in the proper areas
- Maintain safety standards and safety equipment
- Responsible for newsletter information and promotional materials
- Oversee administration of the membership handicap program
- Work closely with all golf committees
- Attend committee meetings and board, management, and all staff meetings when requested
- Adhere to enforce and implement policies and procedures of the facility
- Communicate with the supervisor to include facility, programming, staff, and customer updates
Player Development
Develop and provide and oversee the golf instruction program offering individual and group clinics for all market segments:
- Develop and oversee player development programs at the club
- Target programs for women, families, juniors, and seniors
- Develop a Junior program at the club
Business and Financial
Responsible for the financial and operational performance of the golf shop operations and golf services
- Monitor and ensure all financial objectives are being achieved
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, including forecasting and review of all gold operations and golf services
- Ensure systems are in place to safeguard assets, revenues, and resources
Other Facility/Departmental Responsibilities
- Work closely with all department heads to achieve the goals and objectives of the facility
- Maintain a close working relationship with the Golf Course Superintendent and provide advice on course playability and tournament setup
- Coordinate plans with the Food and Beverage Manager for all food and beverage needs for all golf functions
Compensation
Compensation for this position will be commensurate with experience.
