Compensation: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 Per Year

Overview

Season:

April 15th through Columbus Day

The golf shop needs to be open on weekends starting on May 1st. The Season ends on Labor Day Monday. After Labor Day, the golf shop is only open weekends through Columbus Day.

Shop to be open 8:30 am until 5:30 pm

Reports:

The PGA Pro will report directly to the Candlewood Lake Club Club Manager. In addition, the pro will have a dotted line to the Chairs of the Candlewood Lake Club Golf and Greens Committee.

Tournaments:

There will be approximately 10 to 12 tournaments during the season:

  • Charlie Butts Cup*
  • Twilights (9-hole scramble)
  • Handicap match play*
  • Partners (husband and wife) 
  • Member-Member team play*
  • Parimutuel Twilights (Sunday once a month)  
  • Club Champ (match play)* 
  • Guys & Dolls
  • Night Golf

*designates multi-day tournament

Golf/Greens Committees:

The Professional will work closely with the golf committee organizing all golf events. The PGA Professional will also work closely with the superintendent setting times of play and course conditions.

Lessons:

The Professional will charge for all private sessions. However, there is one exception. PGA Professional must provide Junior Lessons, at no extra cost to CLC Day camp. The Professional will coordinate with the Head Day Camp counselor on what day works best for everyone.

In addition, the Professional will make time available on Wednesday mornings in May for “Ladies Boot Camp”, a popular beginning-of-the-season instructional program. A price for these sessions will be worked out between the PGA pro and the golf committee. 

All private lessons will be billed directly to the member by the Golf Pro.

Merchandise:

PGA Pro will be responsible for all merchandise in the golf shop. This includes all clothing, clubs, shoes, bags, and hats. The club will grant Pro a $4,000 interest-free loan to be used to help stock merchandise. The loan must be repaid by Labor Day. Also, water, iced tea, soft drinks, and candy bars will be sold out of the golf shop. PGA Pro retains all profits from merchandise sold.

Finally, the PGA Pro runs the“Farley Freeze” ice cream shop daily, during the season from roughly 6pm to 9pm. Pro must hire and compensate all kids who work in the shop.

Experience Required

Two or more years as a PGA of America Member with demonstrated career progression.

Essential Responsibilities

Supervise, manage, and run all aspects of the golf program at the Candlewood Lake Club. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Work directly with the golf committee and all sub-committees
  • Consults with the course superintendent and the greens committee.
  • Manages Ladies Golf all Wednesdays during the season
  • Manages men's Golf all Thursdays during the season.
  • Supervising and teaching golf to CLC children via day camp
  • Running all adult and children tournaments during the season
  • Running the Annual Member-Guest tournament
  • Supervise the driving range.
  • PGA Pro will have a high school or college assistant (compensated by the club), The Pro needs to supervise and schedule this assistant.
  • Provide (free of charge) lessons one day per week for kids in day camp.
  • Responsible for supervising all non-scheduled golf events; some events will have extra compensation.
  • The golf pro will oversee the operation and condition of the driving range.
