Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 Per Hour

Overview

Charter Oak Country Club is looking for a PGM Intern
(Level 1 or Level 2) for a 5-month internship. This intern plays a pivotal role in setting the tone at the Club to ensure that our members and their guests receive exceptional service from the moment they arrive at our facility. Charter Oak Country Club is seeking hardworking individuals who are service-driven and smile easily. Our internship program is designed to empower individuals passionate about the game and support consuming knowledge and new skills in a dynamic and encouraging setting.

Experience Required

  • Actively pursuing PGA membership through a PGM University program
  • Private club experience preferred.
  • Ability to exhibit guest service skills at a high level.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks and projects while meeting critical deadlines
  • Basic computer skills; comfortable creating documents in Excel, Word, and Publisher
  • Strong playing ability is a plus. Enjoys games with members and competitions.
  • Career aspirations to be a Head Golf Professional, Golf Shop Manager, or Director of Golf

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assists in the management and execution of the Club’s tournaments, weekly games, couples’ games, and any other Club golf activities, including fitting and teaching events.
  • Remain knowledgeable and informed on all club activities and services; promote all club functions.
  • Be involved in and responsible for adequately marking the golf course every week.
  • Conducts oneself, always professionally, and maintains a professional image, adhering to club-established policies.
  • Play golf with the members regularly to display playing ability and foster relationships with the members.
  • Assist the Outside Golf Operations Manager in the daily operation of the outside service staff, while ensuring that the Club’s starting time policies are managed effectively, and members are given appropriate beginning instruction.
  • Upholds and is prepared to enforce club policies, including pace of play, dress code, and the cell phone policy.
  • Daily golf activity management: Check golf course set up, practice area cleanliness, staff efficiency, daily set-up and take down, enforcement of all rules and regulations regarding golf course usage, and daily play record keeping.
  • Assisted in managing the GHIN Handicap System for all members and ensured GHIN score posting tablets were available for daily member use.
  • Work closely with the Golf Shop Merchandiser and assist in receiving, displaying, inventory, and selling all golf shop merchandise and equipment. Become knowledgeable and up to date on the latest product lines in the golf shop. Be prepared to answer and assist members with questions or special-order needs.
  • Promote a close working relationship amongst the golf department staff and consistently display positive interactions with all club departments.
  • Provide publication material for all club communication outlets, such as club newsletters, information boards, and the website as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
