Position Summary | Works closely with the Head Golf Professional and golf shop manager to run all facets of the Golf Shop, including the day to day responsibilities and procedures established in managing tee times, play, answering phones, opening and closing procedures, selling merchandise. Works closely with fellow employees by providing support, leading by example and promoting and nurturing customer relations to enhance the quality of the golf experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Proficient in golf hospitality, golf tournament software (Golf Genius) and continuing improvement in Microsoft Office products. Must have some knowledge of the Rules of Golf. Teaching and Club Fitting Experience preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, members, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing applications.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

No requirements necessary - recommended affiliation with the PGA of America.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Facilitate all golf shop counter responsibilities, including all daily procedures related to the golf shop and management of play.
  • Help oversee and oversee outside staff (Member Services)
  • Assist in planning, organizing and running Men’s and Women’s weekly golf games. Involved in Member Major Tournaments.
  • Responsible for learning all aspects of the point of sale system and automated tee time system (Jonas & Foretee’s)
  • Assist on all tournament activities when asked and administration of daily, major, corporate and special events through golf shop coverage and other areas as assigned.
  • Assists Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional in instructional programs, including: clinics, individual instruction and club fitting.
  • Be knowledgeable of products in the shop and offerings that are available.
  • Enhance a customer serve orientated atmosphere that promotes the game of golf and meets the needs of the membership.  Anticipating potential problems & opportunities with a problem solving approach. 
  • Assists the Head Professional, by working closely with other departments and especially the golf course superintendent, food & beverage, and club house staff regarding communications and initiatives required to meet service and operational objectives.
  • Works with the Head Professional and Assistants to ensure information is flowing properly between inside and outside operations
  • Actively seek to learn how to be affective in providing great Customer Service, through knowing position and actively participating in the improvement of processes.
  • Practices safe work habits and teach other staff to do the same.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple tasks.
  • Model a professional, ethical and respectful behavior at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
