Overview

The Foundry Golf Club is an 18-hole member-owned private golf only club 25 miles southwest of Richmond, VA. Currently ranked as one of the best courses in the state of Virginia, The Foundry resides on historical grounds. The Foundry does roughly 16,000 rounds annually and currently has 300 members. The club features a driving range, short game area, putting green, locker rooms, and dining facilities in the over 200 year old clubhouse. An indoor Golf Studio was added with a TrackMan simulator a few years ago. The course plays over 6,900 yards from the back tees and features demanding tee shots and very fast, challenging green complexes. The Foundry is currently working with architect Andrew Green on a Master Plan to enhance the golf course and facilities to push it into the future.

The primary objective of the Assistant Golf Professional is to learn, manage and execute every aspect of Golf Operations while supporting the Head Professional in delivering a first-class golf experience to the membership.

Experience Required

  • Apprentice Level 2 or PGA Member preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Assistant Golf Professional preferred but not required
  • Understanding and knowledge of golf, high-end private club, and hospitality operations
  • Rules of Golf knowledge
  • Experience using GHIN and Golf Genius software programs
  • Working knowledge of merchandising and inventory control procedures
  • Proficient and enthusiastic instructor with private lesson experience
  • Ability to custom fit golf clubs
  • Ability to perform basic club repair tasks
  • Be a team player who is enthusiastic with open communication and respect for themselves, members, guests, and the property
  • Prior experience managing staff members
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and E-mail

Essential Responsibilities

  • Work in tandem with the other Assistant Professional on the tasks explained below.
  • Primary focus of this position is to provide the membership with a personal and unmatched level of customer service that ensures an exceptional experience for both members and their guests.
  • Hire, train, and supervise outside operations staff
  • Make weekly outside operations staff schedule and track bi-monthly payroll
  • Hire, train, and supervise caddies
  • Assist with daily caddie assignments
  • Assist the Head Professional with the processing of inventory to include receiving and displaying of golf merchandise.
  • Assist with the proper coding of invoices.
  • Assist with end of month inventory.
  • Conduct member tournaments.
  • Assist with club tournaments and outings including preparing the course, tee gifts, registration, caddie assignments and scoring.
  • Perform tournament closing duties to include proper billing, credit book entry and posting of results.
  • Responsible for club re-pair and re-gripping
  • Manage the daily tee sheets and advance booking times.
  • Open/Close the Pro Shop according to operational procedures.
  • Offer golf lessons and play with the members.
  • Sell golf clubs through personal club fittings
  • Work in different areas of the club to learn and experience all facets of the operation and club
  • Other duties as assigned.
