The Ledges Golf Club in South Hadley is tucked away in the Pioneer Valley, an area of western Massachusetts known for its lush, rolling hills. It is a favorite amongst locals since it is one of the best values in the region. The course enjoys scenic views that stretch to Mt. Tom and the Holyoke Range. It is on the shorter side at just over 6,500 yards from the back tees, but the dramatic changes in elevation make it seem much longer. Most of the greens are raised with steeply sloped sides, making accuracy essential since missing them by even just a few feet will result in a serious penalty. The golf course has a heavily wooded front nine that seamlessly transitions into a more open back nine featuring links-style holes. The Ledges is a shot maker’s course that offers several interesting risk-reward opportunities.

Candidate Qualifications & Experience

Those that are interested in the Head Professional position should be PGA Members or Associates currently employed in the golf course, resort and/or hospitality industry, and will have a well-developed skill set and demonstrated professional track record in the areas of:

• Operations management
• Financial analysis and cost-based management
• Budgeting
• Strategic planning
• Instruction including Player Development

Position Profile

The purpose of the Head Golf Professional position is to ensure that all aspects of the golf operation are developed and delivered in a professional manner and that consistently meet or exceed the expectations of all patrons of The Ledges Golf Club. The Head Golf Professional also plays a key role in customer relationship management including efforts to attract new players and retain existing ones.

The Head Golf Professional is responsible for all golf operations including but not limited to the following:

• Will manage daily golf operations and play, paying close attention to the tee sheet to maximize play
• Provide golf instruction including a Junior and Women Golf clinic program.
• Will be responsible to stock the Golf Shop with merchandise to accommodate golfer’s needs
• Will recruit, train and supervise the inside staff, rangers, starters and golf car personnel along with overseeing their performance
• Excellent customer service will be provided by the Head Golf Professional and all subordinate staff
• Organize all member tournaments, course tournaments and outside golf outings
• Schedule all afternoon leagues, coordinating with each league advisor and ensuring the leagues are managed in an organized fashion
• Have innovative marketing techniques to maximize play and encourage new members
• Candidate will coordinate with Superintendent and Clubhouse  concerning customer needs
