Overview

Manage the Land Harbor Golf Shop, overseeing daily operations, including scheduling and supervising employees, buying merchandise, accounting for inventory, organizing sales, and ensuring accurate receipt reporting. Foster a friendly, customer-service attitude among staff, which will be evident during day-to-day operations.        

Experience Required

Credentials and Experience:

  • PGA credentials (current) or enrollment and commitment in a PGA program
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience: 
    • Two or more years related experience.
    • Degree or certificate from a PGM (Professional Golf Mgmt.) institution
    • Associates degree in management with additional coursework in accounting.
    • Some college coursework with coursework concentration in business
  • Documented, related experience

Essential Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and supervise golf shop staff engendering a positive, customer-friendly atmosphere that is focused on customer service.
  • Promote and sell our community and its amenities.
  • Promote and market our golf course outside of the community to grow and maximize outside revenue.
  • Record and track golf shop inventory.
  • Ensure accurate recording and balancing of daily receipts.
  • Responsible for maintaining any POS software and tee sheet management systems.
  • Act as a salesperson in selling merchandise and snacks, and perform other golf-related customer service duties such as signing in customers as they arrive for their tee time, explaining course rules, assigning golf carts, and scheduling walk-in customers.
  • Attend Golf Committee meetings to provide staff input upon request.
  • Assist league managers and the golf committee with event & tournament preparation as requested.
  • Develop and submit the annual budget following guidelines established by the General Manager.
  • Report golf shop maintenance needs to the Maintenance Shop Administrator.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the game of golf and be able to carry on an informed discussion about course conditions, current golf events, local rules, new golf equipment, and industry trends.
  • Organize and administrate programs, clinics, and other activities to help grow the game of golf and encourage play on the golf course.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of golf shop operations including, but not limited to: marketing, merchandising, inventory control, purchasing, and selling.
  • Knowledge of GHIN/WHS, the USGA admin portal, and the use of TM Club Software (Golf Genius)
  • Ability to use diplomacy, tact, and good judgment when dealing with customers.
  • Strong organizational skills along with the ability to plan activities on a daily and long-term basis.
  • Capable of establishing priorities, working independently, and proceeding with objectives with little supervision.
