Sierra View Country is the only Private Country Club in Roseville, CA. Founded in 1953, it has been a mainstay in the community for over 70 years. Sierra View is known for its visually stunning, walkable, superbly maintained, and challenging but playable 18-hole golf course that features what many consider to be the best greens in the Sacramento area. Designed in 1953 by renowned golf architect Jack Fleming, Sierra View's 6,481-yard course features majestic oak trees, tall redwoods, well-bunkered greens, and strategically placed water hazards and elevated tees, ensuring that each round presents new challenges for golfers of all abilities.
The course has hosted numerous regional and national events, including USGA Open Men's and Senior Men's, Women's and Senior Women's qualifiers, Women's and Men's Amateur qualifiers, plus the State Men's Community College Championship.
With its own water supply, Sierra View stays green year-round, and the play is fast paced, with 18-hole rounds typically completed in four hours or less.
Position Overview:
Sierra View Country Club is seeking a highly skilled First Assistant Golf Professional who thrives in a hospitality-driven environment and is dedicated to providing superior service. The candidate must possess comprehensive knowledge and experience in golf operations, a passion for member engagement, and a commitment to growing the game within the club and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Head Golf Professional in all aspects of golf operations, including tournaments, tee sheets, merchandise inventory, player services, and cart fleet management.
- Ensure that all quality standards for Sierra View's golf operations and facilities are maintained.
- Proactively enforce club policies, including dress code, cart usage, and member responsibilities at the practice area.
- Work closely with other club departments, including the Superintendent and Food and Beverage Manager, to ensure seamless operations.
- Assists the Director of Instruction to ensure quality and relevant player development programs.
- Member and Guest-Centric Service:
- Thrives in a customer service-oriented atmosphere that promotes the game of golf and meets member needs.
- Deliver exceptional service, ensuring that every interaction with members and guests is personalized and exceeds expectations.

- Foster a culture of hospitality where members feel valued and engaged, driving satisfaction and loyalty.
- Actively contribute to membership sales efforts by creating an inviting atmosphere and engaging potential members.
- Build strong personal connections with members, encouraging active participation and long-term loyalty.
- Inspired Leadership and Game Growth Initiatives:
- Assist the Director of Instruction to promote growth of the game, including organizing events, clinics, and community outreach programs.
- Ensure effective training and development programs are in place for all staff members.
- High Energy and Stamina:
- Exhibit the physical and mental stamina necessary to maintain high performance across long hours and diverse responsibilities.
- Effective Communication:
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, engaging effectively with members, staff, and stakeholders.
- Ensure open dialogue, aligning everyone with the club’s goals and contributing to a cohesive environment.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four-year college or university, or equivalent experience preferred.
- 3-5 years of related experience in golf operations, with a preference for candidates who are PGA members.
- Proficiency with computerized point of sale systems, tee time systems, & tournament management software (e.g., ForeTees, Jonas, MembersFirst, Golf Genius).
- Compensation:
- $24-$26 per hour with additional income from lesson fees.
- The First Assistant Golf Professional will be employed by Troon and designated as a Troon associate.
- All benefits will be through Troon and will be commensurate with the full-time Troon benefits package.
