Overview

Tumwater, WA | The Pacific Northwest Section PGA of America, headquartered in Tumwater, Washington, has an opportunity for a dedicated individual to grow their career in association management, specifically in development and leadership for the expansion for the PNWPGA Section Foundation. The Pacific Northwest Section provides membership, educational and tournament services to 1,200 PGA Professionals in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. Conducting over 230 competitive events annually, the Section staff takes pride in providing excellent service to the membership.

Job Summary | The Foundation's Executive Director is the leader of the PNWPGA’s three pillars of service: Youth, Military, and Inclusion. These pillars are positioned in PGA Junior League, PGA JAM, PGA HOPE, The Freddy Initiative and Player Development Grants. The Foundation Executive Director leads the strategic execution and funding development of these programs . This position shall be responsible for managing, coordinating, and marketing all these efforts while building relationships with key stakeholders including Pacific Northwest PGA professionals, golf facilities and foundation donors/supporters. Working with theWorking with the PNWPGA Executive Director/CEO, the Pacific Northwest Foundation's Board of Directors, the PNWPGA Section and section staff, this position serves as the executing leader of all of the Section's philanthropic efforts.

The PNWPGA Section Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to utilize the game of golf to positively impact the lives of youth, military veterans, minorities and at-risk families and individuals. 

The Position | The Executive Director is responsible for directing the overall vision and strategic direction of the Pacific Northwest PGA Foundation, including implementing comprehensive philanthropy and marketing programs. The Executive Director will direct and coordinate activities related to fundraising, special events, community/donor relations, finance, budgeting, planned giving, and other Foundation activities. Will work to drive new revenue, maintain and elevate current benefactors, promote the Foundation in the community and bring fresh ideas to elevate the organization. The Executive Director will be responsible for all fundraising and communications channels, including principal gifts, major gifts, annual gifts, planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, special events, general marketing campaigns, event marketing, and internal and external communications. 

Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university required.
  • Minimum five years corporate relations, marketing, communications, and/or organizational development and fundraising.
  • Minimum five years of supervision/team leadership experience.
  • Proven success in nonprofit fundraising including donor cultivation.
  • Demonstrated ability to present effective and compelling messages to corporations, individuals, groups, and the public.
  • Extensive knowledge of finance and budgeting.
  • Strong moral character and integrity with leadership qualities.
  • Superb problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions independently.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Demonstrated experience working in positions that require successful customer service, organization, and strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Knowledge of grant writing with measurable results.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, online communication technologies and social media trends required.
  • Willing to travel extensively in their own vehicle throughout the confines of the Section including OR, Western MT, Northern ID and WA.
  • Flexibility for work schedule including weekends and evenings.
  • Must live within the borders of the Pacific Northwest Section PGA, preferably, in a major metropolitan area in the Western WA region.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and promote the Pacific Northwest Section Foundation in the community and ensure the Foundation’s growth and development.
  • Provide clear vision and direction for the Pacific Northwest Section Foundation programs, fundraising, partnerships and communications in alignment with the Foundation’s Strategic Plan.
  • Ensure that all the Pacific Northwest Section Foundation programs and activities are inclusive and accessible.
  • Collaborate effectively with Pacific Northwest Section Officers and Board of Directors to enhance the Foundation and further the organization's mission.
  • Strategically develop resources to ensure the organization's financial health and long-term sustainability.
  • Support the fiscal management of the organization, including fiscal policy development and adherence, accounting process adherence and annual budget preparation and adherence.
  • Support the operational health of the Pacific Northwest Section Foundation and ensure the organization’s programs and operations comply with business and labor laws.
  • Must understand current philanthropic and public relations interests of individuals, foundations, or corporations acquired through regular contact with those individuals and organizations.
  • Knowledge of the golf industry and PGA of America.
  • Interact, collaborate, and build relationships with the PGA of America employees.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information about donors and foundation affairs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of prospect/donor management systems.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to craft the vision for a progressive philanthropy model.
  • Superior interpersonal, verbal/written communication, public speaking and presentation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive communication plan to promote the foundation to its donors and maximize public awareness. Assist staff with stories and management of foundation website and social media platforms.
  • Administer and oversee all Pacific Northwest Section PGA Foundation fundraisers and other key fundraising events (e.g. PGA HOPE and similar)
  • Research and apply for charitable grants.
  • Responsible for coordinating and managing the relationships of the Pacific Northwest Section Foundation with corporations, individual donors, contributing members, prospective donors, allied associations, and other non-profit organizations.
  • Employee will work remotely from home or the PNWPGA office but will be required to attend meetings, events, and appointments as needed in person.
  • Oversee and submit all tax and financial documents needed annually.
