Golf Shop Assistant

Overview

 
The Golf Shop Assistant will partner with the Head Golf Professional in the creation of a unique buying experience for our Members and guests, accomplished through creative displays, vendor promotions, and a continually refreshed visual appearance to the golf shop.
A love of the game of golf and a desire to grow a career in the golf industry are essential, as this role offers hands-on experience in golf operations, merchandising, and hospitality within a dynamic club environment.
 
 
 

Experience Required

 
  • Working knowledge of retail sales
  • Must possess appropriate analytical skills, attention to detail, follow-through, creativity, and a high level of motivation
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in both written and verbal formats
  • Willingness to learn and accept instruction
  • Outgoing personality and well-spoken
  • Must possess a positive attitude and good work ethic
  • Proficient in business-related software (Microsoft Office Suite, website management, POS)
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • High-end customer service experience in a hospitality or retail environment preferred
  • One to two years prior golf course experience required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
 
 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Create a memorable retail experience for all Members and guests, continually providing excellent customer service with a high level of professionalism
  • Assist in the daily operation of the Golf Shop and tournament operations, as needed
  • Provide impeccable and outstanding Member service by utilizing Member preferences and anticipatory service
  • Help manage the retail merchandising of the golf pro shop, updating them regularly
  • Daily operation of the POS system: check-in of daily play, ringing up sales and daily charges, recording and entering invoices
  • Be detail-oriented and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Complete all opening and closing duties, as instructed, including completing, signing, dating, and emailing checklists to management
  • Assist with Association play, as needed
  • Take care of Members, accepting tournament entries, handling reservations, booking tee times, answering questions, and offering general help, as needed
  • Be knowledgeable about product and inventory, upselling when able & ensuring repeat sales
  • Assist with inventory control and counting, as needed, including receiving, pricing, merchandising, and managing
  • Help manage on-course operations and pace of play
  • Continually seek innovative ways to grow the game of golf for Members, families, beginner, and lapsed players
  • Support the Club’s social media platforms with website content, posts, videos, and programs
  • Place, monitor, and follow-up on special orders
  • Solve problems, work as a team, be a leader, and inspire happiness
  • Lead by example as an ideal team player

  • Maintain up-to-date credentials, certificates, and licenses, as applicable
